HOW YOUR NIGHT DIVER SPECIALTY WORKS

This specialty is built around night dive planning, torch use, communication and staying oriented
when the reef looks completely different after dark.

Prepare Before Sunset

Go through the plan, equipment, signals and entry points before the dive, so everything feels clear while there is still light.

Use Your Light Properly

Learn how to handle your torch, signal your buddy and avoid shining light in a way that disturbs divers or marine life.

Stay Oriented At Night

Practise simple navigation, natural references when visibility and landmarks feel different
after dark.

Notice Night Life

See how the reef changes after sunset, from sleeping fish to nocturnal animals becoming more active around the dive site.

Before You Arrive

You can start your PADI Night Diver Specialty materials in your own time. They introduce night dive planning, torch use, communication, and the changes that make diving after sunset
feel very different.

When You Meet Us

We check your certification, medical form and equipment, then set up your torch and talk through the entry point, dive route, signals, buddy contact and return plan before heading out for the evening.

SEE KOH TAO’S REEFS AFTER DARK

Night diving changes the whole feeling
of a dive site.
The reef becomes quieter, your torch shows only what is in front of you, and small details stand out in a completely different way.

A Different Kind Of Dive

During the day, it is easy to look everywhere at once. At night, the dive feels slower and more focused, with your light guiding your attention across the reef.

You learn to enjoy that change without rushing, while staying close to your buddy and aware of the dive plan.

Light, Signals And Awareness

Your torch becomes part of how you dive. You use it to look around, communicate clearly and stay connected with your buddy after sunset.

The aim is to help night diving feel organised, calm and enjoyable —
not confusing or overwhelming.
